Traditional Rites: New Alaafin of Oyo,Owoade Returns from Canada

The new Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, has arrived in Nigeria from Canada to undergo his traditional rites. He landed at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, where he was warmly received.
Oba Owoade arrived with his wife and was welcomed by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Idris Aregbe, amid a vibrant display of traditional dancers and drummers.

As part of the rites, the Alaafin will visit several traditional houses to offer sacrifices, make appeasements, and spend nights at select locations for ritual ceremonies. After completing these rites in Oyo town, he will enter Ipebi (seclusion) within the Alaafin’s palace to conclude the process.
