
Benue State governor, Governor Hyacinth Alia, has on Wednesday, April 16, disclosed that no fewer than three suspected herdsmen have been arrested in connection to the attack and killing of 11 people in Otobi community in Otupko Local Government Area of the state.
Alia while speaking to newsmen during a press briefing at the Government House in Makurdi, the Benue state capital called on security agencies to ensure a total crackdown on perpetrators of the act.
He further stated that Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser has further promised to ensure that more security assets are deployed to the state to stem these attacks.
The Governor also mentioned that the state has deployed security personnel to the areas that were attacked.
Also a member of the Benue State House of Assembly, Kennedy Angbo further stated that no fewer than nine bodies of victims of the attack have been recovered.
The lawmaker who represents the Otukpo-Akpa constituency stated that the bodies were recovered on Tuesday night; another one in a hard-to-reach area in the community and another one by dawn on Wednesday bringing the total of casualties to 11.
