Nigerian workers, led by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), are demanding an upward review of the N70,000 minimum wage.
The workers argue that the current minimum wage is not enough to cater to their cost of living amidst rising inflation.Civil servants in various states, including Kano, say the N70,000 minimum wage is not enough to cover their basic needs.
It was gathered that many workers, including civil servants in Kano, have resorted to side hustles to make ends meet.The high cost of prices and soaring inflation have made the minimum wage inconsequential.

Labour leaders and workers claim that they are worse off under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.However,they said that they struggle to afford basic needs, including healthcare, transportation, and food.
An NNPP chieftain, Olufemi Ajadi, called on the federal government to prioritize the welfare of Nigerian workers.The NLC and TUC leaders have urged the government to urgently review the minimum wage to ensure a living wage for workers.
