FAAN Declares Lagos Hajj Terminal Ready with Upgraded Tech and Multilingual Services
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced that the Hajj terminal at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport is fully prepared to begin operations for intending pilgrims starting from May 9.
Mr. Adedayo Alale, the Manager of the Pilgrims and Cargo Terminal, made this known during a facility tour of the terminal on Thursday in Lagos.
Alale revealed that the terminal has been equipped with modern security systems, including closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, to ensure maximum safety for all pilgrims.
He further stated that the facility now operates with contactless systems such as automated machines and designated zones for specific activities to reduce human interaction between staff and pilgrims.
“You can see the total refurbishment of the building under the leadership of Mrs Olubunmi Kuku. She has proven to the whole world that she is capable of leading this organisation,” he said.

Highlighting the improvements, Alale added:
“I have been in this organisation for years, and we haven’t had such facelift on airport facilities. You can see we have phased out the old screening machines and replaced them with modern ones, and they are all working perfectly.”
To ensure effective communication, a dedicated linguistics team has been put in place to assist pilgrims in different local languages.
“If it is Yoruba, if it is English, Igbo or Hausa or any language, they will speak in the language the traveller understands,” Alale assured.
He concluded by urging airline operators and relevant stakeholders to support the operations to guarantee smooth Hajj activities throughout the period.
