Bandits Strike Kebbi Community, Killing One and Abducting Eight, Including District Head
At least eight people, including District Head Alhaji Isah Daya, have been abducted following a bandits’ attack on Kanya, a community in the Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The raid, which took place at midnight on Sunday, also resulted in the death of Sheriff Almu. In addition, three other individuals sustained gunshot wounds and are currently receiving medical treatment. This attack follows closely after another tragic incident in which bandits killed Alhaji Bako Bala, the APC chairman of Suru Local Government Area, in Takalafiya, and abducted one person from Matseri village in Bunza.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Abubakar, confirmed the latest attack, stating that a combined security team, led by the police, has initiated a manhunt to rescue the abducted victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Kebbi State Governor Nasiru Idris expressed deep concern over the abduction and assured the public that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is working tirelessly to secure the release of the captives. He added that the state government has provided essential logistics to enhance the fight against banditry in the affected areas.
