An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday sentenced a 45-year-old man, Kayode Oladosu, to three months’ imprisonment for breaking his neighbour’s teeth.
The Magistrate, Mr Maaruf Mudashiru, found Oladosu guilty of assault and grievous harm preferred against him by the police.
“Oladosu is hereby found guilty as charged and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labour.
“This will serve as a deterrent to others,” the magistrate held.
He said the sentence would take effect from the day the convict was sentenced.
Mudashiru also ordered that the convict should be taken to Agodi Correctional Facility, Ibadan.
Earlier, the convict pleaded for leniency, saying he was a first-time offender.
The prosecutor, CSP Samad Aliu, had told the court that the convict committed the offences on March 15, 2023, at 3.30 p.m, at No.134, Afedapo area of Bolorunduro Awotan-Apete in Ibadan.

According to him, the convict unlawfully assaulted one Mr Amadu Olademiji, by punching him in the mouth, removing his teeth and causing him grievous harm.
Aliu said the incident occurred when the complainant was trying to mediate between the convict and some of his neighbours over an accusation made against the convict.
Aliu said the offences contravened Sections 252 and 355 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
